Outdoor adventures
Lakes, trails and outdoors near Mount Pleasant, Texas.
Lake Bob Sandlin is the reason a lot of guests choose Mount Pleasant. This is where we collect what we know about the water, the trails and the state parks within an easy drive of the park.
Start with Lake Bob Sandlin
Lake Bob Sandlin sits on the north edge of Mount Pleasant and is the closest big water to the park. Anglers come for largemouth bass, crappie and catfish, and the lake is quiet enough on a weekday morning that you can fish a shoreline without company. Lake Bob Sandlin State Park on the north shore adds trails, a fishing pier and a boat ramp, so a day out can be as simple as a pier and a cooler or as full as a morning on the water and an afternoon on foot.
When to go
Spring and fall are the most comfortable months for hiking and fishing from shore. Summer mornings are the best window on the water, with shade and air conditioning waiting back at your site or cabin. Winter stays quiet, and the lake is at its least crowded.
Come back to a real base
Everything on this page is within an easy drive of the park, which means you can fish at first light and still be back for a shower and lunch. Full-hookup RV sites and furnished cabins put you minutes from the boat ramp instead of an hour away.
